Mid-Year Applications

Parents who wish their child/ren to start during an academic year should telephone the school office to check availability in the year groups/s they are applying for.

School Office : 01799 523384
Email: info@st-maryscofe.essex.sch.uk

All mid-year applications should be made directly to the school, using the mid-year application form available below. Mid-year applications (sometimes called in-year applications) are any application for a school place made to a year group, apart from September admissions to Reception. For applications into existing year groups, a place will be offered when the number of pupils in the relevant year group is below the admission number for that year group.

All applications will be considered as and when they are received.  If a place is available, the oversubscription criteria will be applied to all applicants (including those on the waiting list) to determine who will be offered a place.  Anyone making an application under category 2 and 7 must also submit a Supplementary Information Form (SIF).  If a mid-year application is received during a school holiday period, we will respond as soon as possible when the school reopens.  Applications made for a new academic year will be process in the second half of the Summer term.

A parent can request their child be added to a waiting list if their application is unsuccessful. A child’s position on the waiting list will be determined by the admissions criteria and may change as other children join or leave the list.  If you child is offered a mid-year place, the expectation is that your child will start at school within 10 school days of the offer being received, or at the start of the next term if that is being applied for.  If you are unable to take up this offer, the place may no longer be available and a new application may be required.

If parents are unsuccessful in securing a school please you will need to contact Essex Admissions (0345 603 2200 or admissions@essex.gov.uk) who will support you in finding a place for your child.

If you wishing to apply for a September 2025, please use the 2025-2026 application form which will be available during the first week of June.
