Year 6 Mersea Residential Day 2 Update
Wed 30 Jun 2021Dear Parents and Carers,
A jam packed day today! 2 of the groups went paddle boarding out on the lake. They all were amazing and loved playing all the games and races but mostly falling into the water. Some of the groups went climbing which involved being harnessed and seeing how far you could climb up a scaled wall; bush craft (starting fires, baking bread, whittling and wood art), kit karts and an adventure course. We all had a walk along the beach, collecting shells and spotting crabs then a dinner of noodles and chicken while watching the second half of the football and then relaxing before bed. The children are all pushing themselves so much and having an amazing time.
Kind regards

Year 6 Mersea Residential Day 1 Update
Tue 29 Jun 2021Dear Parents and Carers
We arrived at about 12pm, we were given a tour of the site and shown to our cabins. The children spent some time setting up their cabins and exploring their surroundings. We then split into 3 groups, each doing a different activity. 2 groups did archery and kit karts (which involved constructing a go kart from a kit and then racing them down hills) and the other group did kayaking. They all really enjoyed the activities and can’t wait for a day of different ones tomorrow. They enjoyed a dinner of meatballs and pasta and then an evening playing games and chilling with their friends. They all settled well when it was time to go to their cabins to sleep.

KS1 Seaside Day - 24th June 2021
Thu 24 Jun 2021KS1 Seaside Fun Day (Thu 24th June)
Last week Key Stage One were lucky enough to be treated to a St Mary's Seaside Day! We were wowed by a fantastic Punch and Judy show in the morning, made our own delicious seaside snacks, dipped our toes in some sand and sploshed around in the water trays. That would probably have been enough excitement for one day, but in the afternoon the excitement went up another notch as we welcomed two beautiful donkeys to our school and an ice cream van! The children were able to stroke, groom and feed the donkeys and then played the afternoon away with tummies full of ice cream.
The day was a huge success and the polite, positive behaviour of our children was noticed by all who visited. Although it would have been wonderful to visit the real seaside, we feel our day was just as much fun. Well done and thank you to all that helped make the day such a memorable one.

PTA Dance-A-Thon - Wed 26th May 2021
Thu 10 Jun 2021PTA Danceathon
Our lovely co-Chairs of the PTA, Ruth and Gemma, organised and ran a fun Dance-a-thon for every class in the school. The Dance-a-thon took place on the school field, on the meadow area, with a wide range of popular music, colourful lights and even some super dancing props to spice things up! Needless to say, it went amazingly well and it was so lovely to see all of our St Mary’s children having fun and dancing away to their hearts content!
I am extremely happy to report that after our most recent count the school has raised nearly £2300 from incredibly generous donations.
I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our parents and carers and friends of the school for your ongoing support, as the funds raised from these events goes directly towards providing additional resources for each of our children that the school would not normally be able to afford.
