General Home Learning Activities (including BBC Bitesize link and OAK Academy Trust)
Welcome back to the Summer Term. I hope everyone had an enjoyable break over the Easter Holidays and that children have been able to start their home learning again. As we did last term, teachers will be uploading work and new resources onto the school website regularly for children to complete.
You may also be aware that the DfE has just launched an online learning resource called the Oak National Academy. You can find this by following this link https://www.thenational.academy.
Furthermore, the BBC has also launched daily activities on https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize. Please feel free to help your children by dipping into these new resources to supplement the work that the school is setting, although you may find that the work that your class teacher has set fits in more closely to the class topics. I have had a quick look at the Oak National Academy lessons and I have asked class teachers to dip into some of these resources as well as the BBC Bitesize lessons, should they link with the work being set for the class.
Once again, I would like to reiterate that it is not compulsory to complete all of the work that is being set and it is more important that you can adopt a daily and manageable routine that works for your child/ren and family.
I would urge all parents/carers to use the provided online and e-safety links and activities and to always closely supervise your child/children’s internet use. Please contact either myself during normal school hours on email@example.com or your class teacher using the class email address, again during normal school hours.
Please also have a look at our Safeguarding and Wellbeing section on the school website – which contains an array of important numbers for parents/carers and pupils to call if needed.
Many thanks and as always, do take care and keep safe.

Headteacher of St Mary’s Saffron Walden
